If you haven’t heard by now:
Online bookseller Amazon.com ignited a storm of protest on the internet and prompted accusations of censorship of gay, lesbian, erotic and feminist material over a cataloguing change in which thousands of titles were mistakenly labelled as “adult” and removed from some searches.
-thanks to TheAge.com.au
So if you go to Amazon.com right this second and search for homosexuality, you will find, on the first page alone, titles such as:
- A Parent’s Guide to Preventing Homosexuality
- You Don’t Have To Be Gay
- Can Homosexuality Be Healed ?
Very, very interesting, considering the fact that there is an entire LGBTQ literary genre that is conveniently ’missing’ from the first page (both adult and young adult…there seems to be some children’s books still up).
Here’s an interesting opinion article from the LA Times: Is Amazon Pulling A Fahrenheit 451 ?
Also, in response to Amazon’s claim that it was a simple “glitch,” a series of tweet trends has emerged (re: tweets here and here).
Feel free to sign the petition against this “new” (glitch or no glitch) adult policy banning LGBTQ literature.

We all know not every Mormon supported Prop 8. The reason for the protest in front of this Temple is due to the fact that the Church’s President, Thomas Monson, was basically the leading role in deceptive advertisement and gaining plenty o’ support/money (more than $15 mil, thankyouvmuch).
We’re not protesting Mormons, just to make that clear o_O
AND NOW !

MICHIGAN — A suburban Detroit woman has decided to scare up the vote among neighborhood children by just offering treats to John McCain supporters.
Shirley Nagel of Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich., handed out candy Friday only to those who shared her support for the Republican presidential candidate and his running mate Sarah Palin. Others were turned away empty-handed.
A sign outside Nagel’s house warned: “No handouts for Obama supporters, liars, tricksters or kids of supporters.
“
Nagel calls Democrat Barack Obama “scary.” When asked about children who were turned away empty-handed and crying, she said: “Oh well. Everybody has a choice.
“
Fax and phone messages left at numbers for Nagel were not returned.
